This weekend is Ribfest, where Buffalo gets to taste some of the best ribs in the country!  This however is not without some entertainment.  On Saturday (Mix96 day), performances by the Greg Kihn Band and Tommy Tutone will rock the day, but the real entertainment comes from a legend...Twiggy.

Twiggy is a water skiing squirrel, but he is also so much more than that.  He is a thinker, a lover, and an avid nut collector.  I had the pleasure of sitting down with Twiggy for a few moments during his whirlwind world tour this week and I found him fascinating.

We talked about life on the water, and how it differs from living in trees.  His feelings on Alvin and the chipmunks and how they paved the way for woodland creatures.  "They were the pioneers", he said with a smile.  We also got intimate and talked about love.

Twiggy says that there isn't time for love when you live your life on the road.  He knows his window for water skiing is a short one and wants to take advantage of it as long as possible.  This doesn't mean he hasn't had a few flings along the way.  He went on for an hour about a chipmunk named Sandy he met in Lubbock, TX.  She could dance, he could ski; the attraction was immediate.

Life on the road ain't all bad according to Twiggy.  His tour bus is made to feel like home, and at each show he likes to get a taste for the city he's in.  In Buffalo, his favorite delicacy are the Buffalo Wing flavored nuts, and of course Loganberry.  "You really can't get it anywhere else, and that's a shame", he said.

Come down to Ribfest this weekend at Canalside and meet Twiggy yourself.  He will be a little shy at first and then talk your ear off.  He has a lot to say, which makes sense because he has had an amazing life.
