Two Controversial Local Headlines at the Forefront Today
Buffalo School Board Vote
WGRZ reports that yesterday the Buffalo School Board voted to eliminate the cosmetic surgery rider in the districts contracts with teachers. This rider allowed teachers to get plastic surgery on tax payer dollars. This plan to eliminate would clear up around $5 million dollars to be put toward teacher raises. The resolution passed did eliminate that rider; however, the union plans to challenge it in court.
Final Push for Medical Marijuana
WGRZ reports that advocates for expanding New York State's medical marijuana plan say they will push for package of reforms to be approved before the end of session next week with the state legislation.
The proposals are for nurse practitioners and physician assistants to make medical marijuana recommendations to their patients. It would also make the drug available to those with chronic pain and children with epilepsy.
