A tragic stage collapse Saturday night at the Indiana State Fair has claimed a fifth victim. Nate Byrd, 51, who was working to set up the stage for country duo Sugarland,  succumbed to his injuries.

He and four other victims  perished when bad weather sent a gust of wind through the stage area, blowing the stage over. Several  people were injured so severely there remains the possibility that the death toll could go higher.

Officials new of the inclement weather but did not expect the sudden gust of wind and did not have time to evacuate.

The state fair is closed today as state fire marshals and the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the collapse, authorities said.

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels issues a statement along with footage as the stage collapses via this link from the Associated Press.
