Vice President Biden in Rochester Today

Vice President Joe Biden and Governor Andrew Cuomo will be in Rochester today to reveal details about a possible pho-tonics hub in Rochester.

The New York bid was selected from three finalists, which also includes Florida and California, for the Integrated Pho-tonics Institute for Manufacturing Innovation, and the Defense Department has committed $110 million in grant money.

This project could bring thousands of jobs to the region as it merges government, industry and academia to advance pho-tonics research and it's commercial use.

The Pho-tonics Institute studies the use of light and the ability to advance robotics, medical imaging and other technology.
