10) Our 35th President, John F. Kennedy

President Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He died on November 22, 1963. His political party, Democratic. JFK was just 43 when inaugurated, making him the youngest. Term: 1961-1963. In 1962, the U.S. and the Soviet Union were on the brink of nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Kennedy eventually forced the Soviets to back down. He was assassinated in the third year of his first term and so far, JFK is the only Roman Catholic to become President.

President Johnson was born on August 27, 1908, near Stonewall, Texas and died on January 22, 1973. His political party, Democratic. His age when inaugurated was 55. Term: 1963-1969. President Johnson passed sweeping antipoverty and civil rights programs. His involvement the in the unpopular Vietnam War, made him an unpopular President. LBJ was sworn into office on an airplane after the Kennedy assassination.


8) Our 37th President, Richard M. Nixon

President Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California and died on April 22, 1994. His political party, Republican. He was 56 when inaugurated. Term: 1969-1974. During Richard Nixon's first term, he improved relations with the Soviet Union and China and wound down the Vietnam War. President Nixon is the only U.S. President in history to resign from office.


7) Our 38th President, Gerald R. Ford

President Ford was born on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska and died on December 26, 2006. His political party, Republican. He was 61 when inaugurated. Term: 1974-1977. Gerald Ford became Vice President after Nixon's Vice President resigned. He then became President after Nixon resigned. President Ford declared that there was no longer Soviet domination in Eastern Europe. President Ford is the only President never actually elected President or Vice President by the American people.

President Carter was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. His political party, Democratic. He was 52 when inaugurated. Term: 1977-1981. Jimmy Carter had great success in promoting Middle East peace. President Carter has served as a diplomat since leaving office. President Carter currently travels the world doing charity work.


5) Our 40th President, Ronald W. Reagan

President Reagan was born on February 6, 1911, in Tampico, Illinois and died on June 5, 2004. His political party, Republican. When inaugurated he was 69, making him the oldest. Term: 1981-1989. President Reagan is credited with reviving national pride after the turmoil of the 1960s and 1970s. He enjoyed great popularity. President Reagan is the only President to survive after being shot and injured by a would-be assassin.


4) Our 41st President, George H. W. Bush

Our first President Bush was born on June 12, 1924, in Milton, Massachusetts. His political party, Republican. He was 64 when inaugurated. Term: 1989-1993. During President Bush's term, the Soviet Union collapsed and the Cold War ended. He also led the U.S. in the 1991 Gulf War against Iraq. President Bush was the first sitting Vice President to be elected President since Martin Van Buren.

President Clinton was born on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas. His political party, Democratic. He was 46 when inaugurated. Term: 1993-2001. President Clinton achieved goals such as the passage of the NAFTA trade agreement and cuts in the budget deficit. He is credited for having a budget surplus when leaving office. At age 16, President Clinton met President Kennedy at the White House. It inspired his interest in politics.

President Bush was born on July 6, 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut. His political party, Republican. He was 55 when inaugurated. Term: 2001–2009. Just eight months after being sworn in, President Bush had to unite a mournful country after the September 11th terrorist attacks. A self-proclaimed wartime commander-in-chief, President Bush, like his father, led the United States into war against Iraq. Before focusing on national politics, George Bush was the managing partner and part owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team from 1989-1998.

President Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His political party, Democrat. He was 47 when inaugurated. Term: 2009-2016. President Obama is credited for increased infrastructure spending, assisting the US auto industry, and expanding health care coverage by reforming the nation’s healthcare system. He was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. President Obama was a law professor at the University of Chicago Law School, and he is the first President of the United States of African-American ancestry.
