I was reading Laura Daniel's post about New Years Traditions and it got me thinking about my own New Years traditions.

My mom would always make a pork loin on New Years Day. When I asked her why she told me that my Grandma (who was Polish) said you eat pork on New Years Day for good luck.

I moved to North Carolina when I was in high school and one of my first jobs was working in a grocery store. Around New Years I saw a lot of people buying black eyed peas and collard greens which I thought was odd. I finally asked my boss about it and he told me that people eat those to bring them money in the new year. (Collards for paper money and the black eyed peas for coins)

What food do you eat on New Years Day for either good luck or money?
