If you haven't heard, after 22 years of an exciting radio career outside of Western New York, I'm back on the air in Buffalo! Yes, I remember that around here, fall is a short season followed by snowy days and slick road conditions. All the more reason to enjoy the season and take full advantage fall in our area!

1. So many different places to see the changing leaves:

Is there any better place than Western New York and the Southern Tier to take plenty of pictures of the colors to share on your Facebook wall?

2. Watching High School and College football:

Friday nights and Saturday afternoons throughout Western New York you can hear the sounds of the officials whistle and the crowds roaring to a high school or college football game. I'm a big Buffalo State Bengals fan and hope they have a better year!

3. The temperatures are cooling down:

There is nothing better than a sunny October day, like today, with temperatures in the upper 70's, but we will soon feel the crisp air and that "fall" smell that I just can't get enough of.

4. The Cider Mill:

Nothing say fall like a visit to the Mayer Brothers Cider Mill at Seneca Creek and Transit Road for a gallon of apple cider and other favorites. I also recall taking a ride along route 18 in Niagara County for my apple fix. Be prepared to stop and buy some of the best apples your family will ever have. Also be sure you stop at Wilson-Tuscarora State Park for a beautiful view of the lake.

5. Decorating the house with pumpkins:

This is the time of year when you want to your house to feature pumpkins, corn stalks, hay bales, and mums. It gives the house the look of fall.  I asked some of my co-workers about great places to get pumpkins, here is Graig's suggestions:

Pumpkinville near Ellicottville, NY
The Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence, NY
Falcone Farms in Forestville, NY

So enjoy fall Western New York, while it lasts!
