What’s the Origin of the Word “News”?
I hate being right all the time.
It's a crying shame....it's an awful life to live. However, like most women, I am NEVER wrong. ;)
Now, of course I'm being (only slightly) facetious. But traffic reporter extraordinaire Gordon Scherer made the fatal mistake of challenging my intellect and saying there was NO way the word "news" came from the plural of "new".
While I vehemently defended my SUNY Fredonia education, knowing full well Gordon is ALSO a Blue Devils alumni, he refused to concede to my being correct. (Sigh....men. Can't live with em...can't live with em.)
Often erroniously reported as an acronym for "North, East, South, West", the word indeed IS plural of "new".
