When Will Buffalo Actually Get the $15 Minimum Wage?
There's really no answer to that. Erie County is not on the agenda quite yet for that $15 minimum wage that other parts of New York state has been approved for in Governor Cuomo's budget. The agenda, which passed March 31 on time as per Cuomo's usual timely self, outlines that in New York City and Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties, all laborers will make at least $15 per hour by 2021.
As for the rest of the counties? Minimum wage will rise to $9.70 in 2016 and add $0.70 per year until it reaches $12.50 in 2020. At that time the Department of Labor will decide if Erie County, and the rest of the state should jump to $15 per hour.
Expect taxes to go down for the middle class as well.
As more people will make more money, Gov. Cuomo announced they will take less money from the middle class, decreasing how much they will take from taxpayers that make less than $300,000 per year to 5.5 percent, when cuts are fully phased in", according to WGRZ.
