Where to Get Ash Wednesday “Drive-Thru” Ashes in Buffalo
It's Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent for Christians around the world.
Many will receive the sign of the cross on their forehead today, using ashes from burned palms from Palm Sunday. Those ashes are blessed with holy water and scented with incense.
If your hectic schedule doesn't allow you to actually park and walk into church or to attend a mass, many area churches are offering "drive-thru" ashes.
A few places you can get "drive-thru" service:
- Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 7:30a to 9:30a
- St. Peter's Episcopal Church: Main & Third St., 2:30p to 4:30p, Outside Tops Markets and NFTA station on Portage Rd, 4:30p to 6:30p, and Niagara Falls Memorial Center from 7p to 8:30p
- Orchard Park United Methodist Church, 8a to 9a
Besides the great debut of paczki and fastnaught in Western New York, the other obvious Lenten tradition is the great fish fry! Wanna know where the nearest one is to your current location? Check out this "Fish Fry Map" from our friends at WGRZ!
