Why Men Don’t Remember What Women Tell Them (VIDEOS)
Ladies - as a man, I understand how frustrating it can be to tell us something and have us not remember a thing. But, to be fair, it's not our fault. We suffer from a medical condition to a greater degree than you women do. And we've got a doctor's note to prove it.
Well, we'd have that note if our doctor practiced at the Mayo Clinic. Researchers there have discovered that men are more likely than women to suffer from mild cognitive impairment, or MCI. And MCI isn't just an annoyance. It is recognized as the transition state between normal brain aging and dementia.
Although the Mayo Clinic study focused on men and women in their 70's, Dr. Steven Arnold, from the University of Pennsylvania, notes that memory begins to fade much earlier:
Reporting that more men than women suffer from MCI seems to contradict the results of previous studies, which said that women were more likely to get dementia, or Alzheimer's disease. But Dr. Rosebud Roberts, lead author of the study, says that women may be affected later, and more severely, than men.
Is there anything that might help men and women avoid cognitive issues? Dr. Roberts noted a possible link between conditions that cause strokes [including high blood pressure] and cognitive problems. Keeping the BP low may help you avoid memory loss and, possibly, dementia.
