The new HARBORCENTER is the center of action for the World Sled Hockey Championships, and the wonderful head coach, Jeff Sauer, stopped by this morning.

From the Harborcenter press:

Sauer and Team USA defeated Italy 7-0 Wednesday to finish the preliminary round with a record of 3-0 (also had wins over Russia and Germany). They have outscored their opponents 20-1 and will now play in the semifinal round Friday at 8PM – against Norway.

Lancaster native Adam Page scored again Wednesday and now has 3 goals in his last 2 games.

This Team USA squad won gold at last winter’s Sochi Paralympics and entered this tournament undefeated on the season – with wins in the world sled challenge and a sweep of their 3-game mini-series against Canada.

This is the second world championship to take place at HARBORCENTER in 2015 – on the heels of the Under-18 Women’s World Championship – where Team USA took gold over Canada in an overtime final.

Every member of Team USA has a great story. Some, like Lancaster native Adam Page have been born with physical disabilities and have developed into world class athletes representing their country.  Others, like WNY native Paul Schaus and team captain Josh Sweeney have lost limbs while serving in our military overseas.
