The State Department has issued a worldwide travel alert for Americans because of an increased threat of terrorism.

The Departments says that ISIS, al-Qaeda and other terror groups are continuing to plan attacks around the world, and the threats will continue as long as foreign members of ISIS return from fighting in Syria and Iraq.

The federal government recommends that Americans remain on alert when in public places, avoid large crowds and watch for media reports.

The terror alert is set to expire on February 24, 2016.
