Here you are, filling your grocery cart with healthy fruits and vegetables...ordering extra veggies when you're out to dinner...and you're still doing it wrong. Probably.

Heatlh.com released some foods you could be eating wrong...meaning you may not be getting their full nutritional benefit....

  • Strawberries:  don't buy the ones already cut up.  Nutrients get destroyed once exposed to light and air.
  • Garlic:  let it sit 10 minutes after you cut it up...cancer-fighting enzymes benefit from being exposed to air.
  • Black tea:  don't add milk!  You'll still get antioxidants, but proteins in the milk lik up with something in tea called "catechins" and make them harder to absorb.
  • Broccoli:  ALWAYS STEAM....boiling it or nuking it kills lots of nutrients...same goes for asparagus.
  • Tomatoes:  they're better for you if they're cooked, because it's easier to absorb lycopene.  Go past 190 degrees to up the number of antioxidants.
