5 Must-Watch Christmas Movies
What better way to spend your free time this holiday season than curling up with a cup of hot cocoa, a few fuzzy blankets, Christmas lights and a good holiday movie?
Whether you want something funny or something sentimental, here’s my list of the top 5 movies you should watch while waiting for the man with the beard — or while you wait for the sky to dump 10 feet of snow on your doorstep.
Who can resist Will Ferrell in an elf costume and his duet with a blonde-haired Zooey Deschanel? The answer is no one — unless you’re cotton-headed ninnymuggins, that is. This movie just makes you want to make gingerbread houses, and eat cookie dough, and go ice skating, and maybe even hold hands.
Love Actually (2003)
This movie will always be one of my favorites. First: British accents. Second: Hugh Grant AND Liam Neeson. It can get confusing trying to follow all the storylines, but this one is guaranteed to warm the heart. Or make you remember you’re single.
Home Alone (1990)
Every kid’s dream: getting left with the house to yourself and boobytrapping it so burglars won’t get you. This movie is a classic and a must-watch for any holiday season. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
I’d argue this is the best movie of all time — forget just the holidays. Meg Ryan is a babe, and her fake orgasm scene gave away the secret of women everywhere. And this movie just proves you can overcome the friend zone and fall in love with your best friend on New Year’s Eve.
A Christmas Story (1983)
This is the ultimate holiday movie — it’s even on for 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve! I know my holidays aren’t complete without my dad making me watch it at least five times on TV, and then he pops in our DVD copy for more fun. Maybe we just like lamps shaped like legs. Maybe we’ve all had our mouths washed out with soap for saying a curse and wanted a BB gun for Christmas. Or maybe it’s because this movie has something we can all relate to with our crazy families at Christmastime.
