You Can Now Take a Course on Taylor Swift at a New York College

Over the last 15 years, Taylor Swift has proven herself to be a powerhouse both in music and in business, but this is new. One New York college has devoted an entire course on the musician. In other words, class is officially in session for Swifties.

Offered by New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, the course launched on January 26 and runs through March 9. Although Taylor Swift has been invited to speak at the course which was shaped after, there’s no word on whether or not that will actually happen.

A description for the course reads quote, "This course proposes to deconstruct both the appeal and aversions to Taylor Swift through close readings of her music and public discourse as it relates to her own growth as an artist and a celebrity.”

According to Variety, the course was the brainchild of Brittany Spanos, an New York University alum herself. Today, Spanos is a Rolling Stone staff writer and she has been covering Taylor Swift stories for years.

Anyone thinking the Taylor Swift course will be all fluff might want to think again, this isn't just a course for the Taylor Swift obsessed at least not according to the course description.

Those attending the course should expect a deep dive into "analyses of the culture and politics of teen girlhood in pop music, fandom, media studies, whiteness and power as it relates to her image."

It seems a lot of people are interested in taking this Taylor Swift college course as a representative for the program tells Variety the waitlist is quite long.
