The big debate this week is when you should pick up a penny, or really any coin, off the ground when you are out and about.

Last week my wife Elizabeth and I were on a walk when we noticed a penny on the ground with the tails side up.

My wife said, pick it up since it is supposed to bring you good luck. I told her no, it is only good luck if the "head" side is up, and if not, you are supposed to flip it over so it is and then leave it for someone else to pick up and get some luck.

So apparently a huge divide when it comes to the "Pick Up the Penny" debate.

We posted the question and got all sort of responses.

According to Southernliving.com, there is some merit to the leave a penny along if it is "Tails" up. It comes down to good versus bad. If the "head" side is good luck, the opposite side, the "tail" side would be bad luck.

Finding a penny heads up meant you'd have luck on your side, but tails up would mean the opposite, although the exact reasoning for this is unknown," the post continues, reminding us that superstitions often have vague origins despite their widespread adoption into people's lives.'
